What is CBD?

Everyone started to talk about CBD. Why is it so popular now?

CBD has exploded onto the market, leaving a lot of confused consumers… CBD became very popular because it may support a sense of peace and well-being in humans. Don’t worry, it’s NOT intoxicating, so you can add CBD to your everyday routine without experiencing a high.

“CBD” stands for Cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is a chemical compound from the cannabinoid family that naturally occurs in the Cannabis Sativa plant, a plant with a rich history as a medicine going back thousands of years. A cannabinoid is one of the many diverse chemical compounds that acts on cannabinoid receptors in the endocannabinoid system of all humans and animals.

Both Hemp and Marijuana are part of the cannabis sativa plants. That means that both hemp and marijuana have cannabinoids.

Often it is confusing because hemp and marijuana look similar when they grow. This is because they’re in the same family of plant species. Actually, they are NOT similar in their genetic construction. Hemp contains a lot of CBD, but it does NOT have enough THC in it to give you a psychoactive effect or make you feel “high”.  The fact that CBD is therapeutically potent as well as non-intoxicating and easy to take as a CBD oil, makes it an appealing treatment option for those who are cautious about trying cannabis for the first time.
